The best of them was probably BJ Ryan, though he only closed for one year. He had a great season in 2005 before he left in free agency. He saved 36 games and had 100 strikeouts in 70 innings.

It's easy to forget but Kevin Gregg was actually the closer for most of last season and he was awful. He blew 7 games by himself. The bullpen as a whole blew 19 games. You're right the starters weren't good last year, but the bullpen outside of Johnson, Uehara, and Strop was just terribly bad. The bullpen improvement this year has made a big difference.Kevin Eberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07626904924597645973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579285095877112568.post-48323625570307126712012-05-08T07:55:45.227-04:002012-05-08T07:55:45.227-04:00Statistically, who was the best closer the O's...Statistically, who was the best closer the O's have had in last decade? And how many games did the bullpen blow last year? It seems to me they were losing by more than 1 run many times last year after their starter left the mound...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
